BIOGRAPHY

GODEFROY LELEU is a self-taught painter born in Roubaix, France, in 2002.I pour paint onto the canvas and make brushstrokes with my hands, creating chaotic, violent backgrounds, representing raging waves, a dynamic sky driven by a furious wind, or an infinite universe, pursuing its path outside the canvas. The measure is the disorder wrapped by these lines, like weavings or the trace of a spider enveloping its prey, which completes and gives depth to the painting. Despite their dynamic appearance, the paintings have the ability to transmit a tranquility, a calm that takes shape when the work is read in its entirety.
When a painting becomes too heavy, I don't hesitate to sweep away the chaos to leave room for an airy mark that harmonizes and balances the work.
